Main Research Lines / Participation in SusPlast:

  • Revaluation of agri-food waste (e.g., lignocellulose) for the production of bioplastics and/or monomers of interest (e.g., aromatic compounds) for the synthesis of biopolymers.
  • Recycling of waste for the production of bioplastics (PHB) or dicarboxylic acids (e.g., pimelic acid and derivatives) used for the synthesis of plastics with facultative anaerobic bacteria.
  • Fixation of CO2 for the synthesis of PHB in Ralstonia eutropha.
  • Design of new genetic circuits for the development of biosensors of compounds of industrial interest (e.g., CO) and cellular redox state in waste recycling processes.
