Main Research Lines / Participation in SusPlast:

  • Development of extremophile enzymes to obtain "building blocks" from wood
  • New enzymatic oxidation / oxy-functionalization technologies for the production of bio-based products with high added value
  • Analysis of basidiomycete genomes for the application of their enzymatic systems in lignocellulose biorefineries
  • Production, characterization and improvement of fungal enzymes related to the biotransformation of polysaccharides, lipids and components of biomass different than lignin
  • Application of biocatalysts in hydrolysis/synthesis reactions to obtain high added value compounds
  • Immobilization of enzymes: stabilization of activity and recycling to reduce the cost of bioprocesses of interest
  • Mixed communities (fungi-bacteria) for the production of high added value compounds, such as bioplastics, from waste
